An article published by the Baghdad Observer, then the official Iraqi Government English newspaper about Dr. Jack Shepard's invitation from the Ministry of Information in 2001 to conduct a fact finding mission to Iraq.
He visited Baghdad's Childrens Hospital, Schools and got to meet with many Iraqi officals and ordinary Iraqi people during his visit.
After his interveiw with the Baghdad Observer; Dr. Jack Shepard was also invited to speak on Iraqi National TV and Iraqi Satellite TV of the urgent need for both America and Iraq to work toward Peace and Friendship warning of the terrible consequences of another major war.
Dr. Shepard immediately after his Ministerial invitation from the Iraqi minister of information to learn more about the Iraqi situatuion and visit the Foot and Mouth Vaccine factory that was destroy by the United Nations to confirm it's presently was still in the same condition as the UN left it which his photos confirmed; he drove accross the Jordanian border.
While in Jordan Dr. Shepard stayed at the Palestinian Hotel with the Libyan delegation who were also there to attend the Arab Summit that King Abdullah was hosting. Dr. Shepard was honored that he was the only America officially invitated by the Jordanian Government to be an observer to the Arab Summit.
During the Arab Summit in Jordan in 2001 Dr. Shepard made several friends from the Libyan delegation which proved very useful in future deals with Libya.
Without the cooperation of Libya we never could have stopped Pakistan's worldwide exporting network of Nuclear Technology; which by now surely could have gotten Nuclear Technology into the hands of terrorists. We and the world owe so very much to Libya. Libya is an shining example of how a nation can return to the world community of nations; like every nation in the world is being offered today!

This child was dying only because Saddam refused to purchase Medicine or Medical Equipment with the billions of dollars he took from the oil for food program.
Saddam choose used these billlions of dollars to build his Billion Dollar Palaces and his Saddam statues of himself rather then purchase medicine for over 1,200,000 Iraqi's who died during the period of the sanctions.
Saddam tried to blame on the Iraqi Embargo the death of over 1,200,000 Iraqi men, women and children which was a complete proven lie.
For me letting over 1,200,000 Iraqi's die from lack of mediicne was saddams greatest crime!

Dr. Shepard standing next by a million dollar statue that Saddam build of himself rather then spend money to purchase medicine for the over 1,490,000 Iraqi Civilians who died from causes related to the sanctions that Saddam falsely blamed on the Sanctions! Why all the time Saddam was making Billions of dollars from the Sanctions as Dr. Shepard pleaded for the International Community to immediately end the Iraqi Embargo which only harmed the poor, innocent and weak Iraqi's.
